Nigerian recording artist, songwriter and performer, Ayodeji ‘Wizkid’ Balogun has been nominated at the 59th annual Grammy Awards. The pop star was nominated as for his contribution to Drake’s 2016 “Views” album, he was a guest artiste in Drake’s ‘One Dance’, which also featured Kyla. Wizkid was a prominent contributor on the lead single, which was released in April 2016. The song falls into the Grammy eligibility period - October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016. According to Billboard, ‘One Dance’ racked up 4.67 million streams in one week and pulled about 3,000 combined chart sales. The song set a new record, becoming the longest-running No. 1 single in U.K.’s digital era. As of June 16, 2016, ‘One Dance’ has sold 1,280,141 copies in the United States. The song has spent 11 straight weeks on the top of the Billboard chart. If Wizkid gets the prize come February 12, 2017, he will become the first Nigerian singer to ever win a Grammy Award.
